13 Oct 2011: MAC-UK scoops two prizes at the Charity Times Awards 2011!

MAC-UK was delighted to win twice at last night’s Charity Times Awards 2011. We won the Charity of the Year Award (for charities with an income under £1million) and the organisation’s CEO and founder, Dr Charlie Alcock, won the Rising Star Award. Charlie said: “It was totally unexpected, but a real honour to win these awards as it's a fantastic way to celebrate the work we do.”

Andrew Holt, Editor of Charity Times, said: “The calibre of entries this year was exceptionally high, and the judges thought the highest ever. So for Dr Charlie Alcock to win two awards shows an outstanding achievement. Her passion, vision and commitment impressed the judges immensely.”

Pictured (left to right) are Heather Barker, MAC-UK chair of trustees; Chris Assombalonga, trustee; Charlie Alcock, MAC-UK CEO; and Raj Kholi, Camden Police Superintendent and MAC-UK supporter. More photos can be seen on the Charity Times website.

Battlefront Start Talking Mental campaign

Channel 4's Battlefront, now in its third series, is an online and on-TV double Emmy Award-Winning show which follows young people as they campaign to tackle issues they believe in. This year one of our Battlefronters - Katya - is running the campaign 'Start Talking Mental' which is aiming to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and also wants the government to appoint a youth representative for mental health issues.

MAC-UK is proud to support the campaign, and you can take a look at her page here and as well as her Facebook and Twitter. Katya's campaign has had interest from Stephen Fry, David Walliams, Mind Charity, Mental Healthy Magazine and she has been spreading the word about her campaign all over the country.
