For the answer to this, please see our Music and Change page on our website. - What is the evidence base behind your work?

MAC-UK and its original Music and Change project grew from the needs of the community it serves. It’s not easy to sum up how this was done in a few sentences but if you would like more details on our journey: - We run youth-led open days every three months. For more details and to book, please see the What we do section of our website.
- We also offer training and consultancy which can be bespoke to tailor your specific needs. For more information on this service, please see the Training & Consultancy section of our website.
- There is also a brief summary of the beginning of the MAC-UK story in the Founder section of our website.
- I want to set up a project, what's the best way to get funding?
There are many ways of acquiring funding and the way MAC-UK went about it won’t necessarily be the best way for your project. We found the following very helpful:- Funding Central a free website for the voluntary and community sector, including social enterprises.
- A book called Community Psychology: In Pursuit of Liberation and Wellbeing. Geoffrey Nelson, Isaac Prilleltensky (2005)
- We also run Open Days every three months where those attending have the opportunity to learn more about us, meet the team as well as some of the young people we work with. For more details and to book please see the What we do section of our website.
Concern about young people
- I know a young person who is involved with gangs. What do I do? Can you work with him/her?
At MAC-UK we use a peer to peer approach. This means that we work on a small and local level and young people refer their peers. So we don’t take referrals from elsewhere but if you are concerned about a young person you may find the Support page on our website helpful. - I am a young person with experiencing problems related to mental health/gangs - can you help me?
At MAC-UK we use a peer to peer approach. This means that we work on a small and local level and young people refer their peers. So we don’t take referrals from elsewhere but we have a Support page on our website which you may find helpful. It lists organisations, both locally in Camden and elsewhere, that offer support to young people. - I work with a young person who attends MAC-UK, can you share information with me about them?
At MAC-UK we are very keen to collaborate with other agencies. We are, however, bound by professional regulations so whether or not we can share information will depend on the young person’s age and other factors. To discuss this please contact Olive Maloney, MAC-UK clinical psychologist and senior project manager on 020 7722 9771.
